Ending a marriage is never easy, especially when children are involved. The divorce process involves many moving parts - property division, child custody/support, investments, spousal maintenance and many other factors.
Generally speaking, divorces in Texas are broken down into two main categories:
Contested divorces and Uncontested divorces. While both are complex, choosing whether to move forward with one over the other will depend on your relationship with your spouse, the factual circumstances of the case, and the complexity of your community property.
Some of the greatest challenges in a high-net-worth divorce involve identifying, valuing, and dividing complex marital assets. Some of the greatest challenges in a high-net-worth divorce involve identifying, valuing, and dividing complex marital assets. If your case is high-asset and financially intricate, it is essential to retain a highly skilled divorce attorney with substantial experience in cases like yours. This ensures the assets are divided fairly and that nothing is overlooked or forgotten.
High-asset individuals have significantly more stake than their middle-income counterparts during divorce. Working with an attorney who is experienced in high-net-worth divorce reduces your financial and legal risks and ensures the right financial experts are brought in at the right time.

From navigating federal laws like the Uniformed Services Former Spouses' Protection Act (USFSPA) to addressing the impact of frequent relocations and deployments, these cases require a lawyer who understands the unique legal and practical issues military families face.
The USFSPA governs how military retirement pay is divided in divorce. We are experienced in ensuring compliance while protecting your interests. We also guide clients through the complexities of the Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP), which can significantly affect long-term financial security for former spouses. These issues demand careful negotiation to reach fair and lasting solutions.

One of the most difficult aspects of divorce is the impact it has on children. Parents who put their children's needs first and are able to reach a mutual agreement regarding custody take an important first step toward successful co-parenting after divorce. At OLM we always encourage negotiation and mediation as the first approach to resolving child custody and conservatorship disputes. These methods often reduce conflict, save time, and help preserve family relationships. However, when parents cannot reach an agreement, we are fully prepared to protect your rights and your child's best interest in the courtroom.

In Texas, both parents share the financial responsibility of supporting their child. Child support is generally calculated under state guidelines, which base payments on a parent’s monthly income after certain deductions. In most cases, the noncustodial parent pays support to the custodial parent.
A child support order typically continues until the child turns 18 or graduates from high school — whichever comes later. However, support may end earlier if the child becomes legally emancipated, such as through marriage or a court order.
If you have concerns about the amount of child support you may receive or be required to pay, our firm can provide guidance and ensure your rights and your child’s best interests are protected.

Strengthen Your Marriage with Trust and Transparency
While discussing a prenuptial agreement may not feel romantic, it is one of the most important steps you can take before marriage. A prenup is not a plan for divorce — rather, it is a tool to build trust by clarifying financial expectations, protecting individual and family assets, and ensuring both partners are cared for in the future. By addressing these issues upfront, a prenuptial agreement can provide peace of mind and create a stronger foundation for your marriage.
Starting a business in Texas begins with making informed choices from the very beginning. Beyond simply filing paperwork, it's essential to create a corporate structure that complies with Texas law, while also protecting your business relationships, minimizing risks, and laying the foundation for long-term success.

Mediation is a voluntary process in which two or more parties work with an impartial third party — the mediator — to resolve disputes. Unlike a judge, the mediator does not make decisions. Instead, they act as a neutral facilitator, helping the parties (and their attorneys, if present) focus on the key issues, explore options, and ultimately reach a resolution that works for everyone. Mediation offers several advantages over traditional litigation. It is typically faster, less costly, more private, and far less stressful than going to court.
Most importantly, it gives the parties control over the outcome, rather than leaving the decision in the hands of a judge. Mediation in Family Law In divorce and child custody matters, mediation is often required by Texas courts before a case proceeds to trial. During mediation, both spouses — along with their attorneys — sit down with a mediator to discuss the issues at hand. The mediator does not provide legal advice but may offer perspective on potential risks and outcomes. This process allows both parties to consider whether to compromise on a disputed issue or leave the matter for a judge to decide. For families, mediation can be an excellent alternative to litigation. Spouses are increasingly using mediation to resolve divorces without lengthy court battles. Parents can also use mediation to create or modify custody arrangements in a way that reduces conflict and shields children from unnecessary stress.
Unlike personal injury attorneys, who usually charge a contingency fee to get a percentage of the settlement won, family law firms usually charge an hourly rate for their services. This is known as a billable hour, and includes consultations, meetings, and any time spent working on the case. Hourly rates vary depending on the experience and skill of the attorney, but they can be up to a few hundred dollars per hour.
I can't thank Ms. Oglesby enough! My ex sued me for full custody of my daughter. My original attorney, Julie Ketterman, had represented my ex in a divorce so I was screwed and I didn't know it. Of course my ex had my attorney disqualified and I was stuck! I called Ms. Oglesby and told her my story. She immediatelyintervened the next day! Low and behold my ex's attorney had served me with discovery because she figured I wouldn't have an attoryney. Ms. Oglesby served my ex with discovery and soon after he wanted to settle! She is definitely a quick draw! Ms. Oglesby was able to have my story told in front of the judge without me losing my daughter! If it were not for her, I would probably have lost my daugher on a default judgement.

Gigi was recommended to me by another attorney. After two lawyers had failed our child custody case I was skeptical of all lawyers. Our case was a mess! After meeting with her she made me very at ease and assured me she would get us on the right track and she did. Gigi is a mastermind of the details. When trial got near I sent her a list of questions I thought were personally important to my case and to my surprise she had all the same ones. That assured me that she had listened to everything I had said and on her end she had done her homework. She was quick to respond to our needs and requests and on a very personal level. She made a very difficult time a little easier. She was up front and honest about things and understood the frustration we were going through. I would recommend her to anyone as being someone who truly cares about what happens not just another case.
